Why Did MS Drug Kill Eleven People?
Health agencies from multiple countries, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency, are investigating reports of 11 deaths in multiple sclerosis patients who took the drug Gilenya.
MS Drug Continues to Cause Disastrous Side Effects (from 2010)
In the latest blow to the controversial multiple sclerosis drug Tysabri, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has ordered a new label be put on the drug, warning that the risk of developing progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare but deadly brain infection, increases as more Tysabri infusions are received.
Insights on Multiple Sclerosis
My mother tends to be a book hoarder – though not in a bad way. The woman loves books and I always find some rare jewel any time I am over at her house. This trip was no different. I thought I would share these books’ nuggets of wisdom as related to MS.
New Book on Healing
by Hanna Kroeger
Multiple Sclerosis
Make a tea of sunflower seeds and fenugreek seeds. Drink one cup, three times daily. (Authors note: Evidently fenugreek is great for inflammation).
Make a smoothie with corn, grated carrots, liquid garlic, chives, milk, dry mustard, paprika, flaxseed oil, and primrose oil. Place it all in a blender and add salt or pepper to taste.
Em-mu drops will help rebuild the central nervous system. (Authors note: Emu oil seems to have almost mystical qualities, according to Kroeger, in that it seems to detoxify and repair the central nervous system. I going to have to find some of this stuff locally)
Mercury in the tissue (In Ryan’s case, mercury is related to his MS)
Selenium detoxifies the tissues
Emu oil counteracts mercury in the nervous system
Restless Leg Syndrome (something Ryan had prior to his MS)
This condition relates to folic acid deficiency. If possible, give vitamin E rich foods. Also lack of tryptophan leads to restless less syndrome. Since this restlessness makes insomnia, it is good to know that people can sleep after a few days on amino acids.
For my own digestive issues, according to Kroeger it all revolves around parasites (much like Hilda Clark’s view)
IBS: “Check for candida infection”
Indigestion: “Check for parasites, especially protozoa”
Diverticulitis: “Protozoan infection”
Crohn’s Disease: “Protozoan infection”
The book is great, though simple, in that it lists common ailments and food-based methods to dealing with each problem. Brain tumor? It gives a recipe on how to fix it with tomatoes. No joke.
I think this will be another that I add to my medical library.

Reference Guide for Essential Oils 12th Edition July 2010
The next book I discovered at my mom’s is based on Young Living’s Essential Oil’s line of products. Young Living is a direct sales company that I have purchased oils from for years, being first introduced to them when I was a Freshman in college. Protocols listed are based on YLO products. I have taken this information directly from the book.
Myelin Sheath: ImmuneTune, Radex, Immupower and cold compresses using peppermint, juniper, and geranium
Multiple Sclerosis: Aroma Siez, Clarity, Cypress, Geranium, Juniper, Oregano, Peace and Calming, Peppermint, Thyme. Do raindrop therapy.
Personal Care: EssPro 7
Supplements: Arthro Tune, Body Balance, Cleansing Trio (ComforTone, Megazyme, and ICP), ImmuneTune, JuvaTone, Mineral Essence, Power Meal, Sulfurzyme, Super B, Super C, VitaGreen
The following are recipes that have been used successfully:
RECIPE #1: Supplement with VitaGreen, Cleansing Trio (ComforTone, Megazyme, and ICP), Radex, ImmuneTune, and Super C. Blend 10 (drops) Cardamon, 10 Peppermint, and 10 Rosemary with 1 oz. V-6 mixing oil for a full body massage. Finally, diffuse Acceptance and Awaken
RECIPE #2: Supplement with 8 Super Cal, 2 Super B (after breakfast) 6 Super C, 6 VitaGreen 4x daily, 4 ImmuneTune, Master Formula, and Arthro Tune. Apply Juniper and Peppermint, one at a time, on the spine. If MS is in the neck, work up to the spine. If it is in the legs, work down the spine. Do a cold compress and wait for 30 minutes. Remove the compress and repeat again.
RECIPE #3: Take 2 droppers full of Mineral Essence morning and evening to conduct current to reconnect the nerve tissues. Take ½ Super B in the morning and evening with meals for the first week. Then increase the dosage. Use juniper, geranium, and peppermint on the bottom of the feet and up the legs and spine. Apply oils in the direction of the paralysis. Apply raindrop therapy on the spine using oregano and thyme. Use Peace and Calming and Clarity for brain function and cypress for circulation. Use the Cleansing Trio (Comfortone, Megazyme, and ICP) and Juva Tone. Also use Arthro Tune and Super C for 6 days. Then start on Super B morning and evening, Body Balance or meal, 6 VitaGreen four times a day, 4 ImmuneTune two times a day.
Blend: 6 Juniper, 4 Sandalwood, 2 Peppermint, 12 Geranium. Mix and massage into neck, spine, and bottom of feet.
COMMENTS – Avoid hot baths, etc. Heat is the worst thing you can do. If anything, insulate the body with ice packs. Lowering the body temperature with cold packs helps to regenerate the myelin sheath. The person can be kept in the cold packs either as long as they can stand it or until their body temperature drops 3 degrees. The body temperature must be monitored closely to avoid lowering it to the far. This process can be repeated until the person can only stand being in the cold packs for 20 minutes. It is also best to avoid diet foods, especially those that contain aspartame as it is known to cause MS, brain damage, and other problems.
Special note: “According to D. Gary Young, progesterone is absolutely necessary in manufacturing, building, repairing, and rejuvenating the myelin sheath.” (Authors note: Progesterone was something that his hormone labs came back low in, therefore he has been supplementing with a bio-identical transdermal progesterone).

Have you ever heard of Dr Dietrich Klinghardt MD, PhD? I hadn’t either until today.
Another Dr. Mercola newsletter landed in my Inbox regarding this man and his work regarding Lyme disease.
Dr Klinghardt – Dr Dietrich Klinghardt MD, PhD, is Founder of the American Academy of Neural Therapy, Medical Director of the Institute of Neurobiology, and lead clinician at the Comprehensive Medical Centre, all located in Bellevue, Washington. He is also Founder and Chairman of Klinghardt Academy (UK), Institute for Neurobiology (Germany) and CYNIK (Switzerland).
Yes, you read that right. This guy is located here in Washington State!

Comprehensive Medical Centre
Why do I write about this man? He specializes in neurological illness and chronic pain. Sounds like a good bet for a MS sufferer.
It’s now been fairly well-established that chronic infection is an underlying factor in most chronic illnesses. Diseases such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue are all turning out to be expressions of chronic infections.
Lyme disease seems to be a primary infection for MS sufferers. Does Ryan have Lyme disease? He was diagnosed with it by a practitioner and family friend we saw in Colville.
“The most startling form of the expression of Lyme disease is a wide variety of neurological illnesses,” Dr. Klinghardt says.
“That is what we specialize in… We see a lot of cases with multiple sclerosis (MS)… ALS… [and] everything in between: the chronic fatigued patients, the patient with vague, undistinguishable neurological symptoms, the feeling of buzzing in the head, buzzing on the skin, crawling under the skin…”
What does Dr. Klinghart do to treat Lyme disease (and other neurological disorders)?
Environmental factors as evaluated. These include
- Mold
- EMFs
- Electrosmog
- Wireless technologies
Once identified, these factors are addressed and mitigated:
Mold: www.survivingmold.com
To mitigate microwave radiation, Dr. Klinghardt recommends shielding your home with a graphite paint called Y Shield outside, and use special silver-coated cloth for your curtains. These measures will compromise your ability to receive cell phone calls, so depending on your situation, you may opt to shield just your bedroom, or shield your entire home and just use a landline.
All cordless telephones are removed, and patients are instructed to turn off all the fuses at night, until they have recovered from Lyme disease.
Energy Psychology tools are used such as EFT.
Parasites are addressed. Check out the antimicrobial cocktail.
Lastly, viruses are addressed using a tincture of Native American herbs called Viressence, by BioPure.
Diet and lifestyle are addressed.
In summary, I think anyone with MS needs to seriously explore Dr. Klinghart’s work. Much of what I have covered on my blog comes together on his website. There is a wealth of information there.

Dr. Mercola has a great read about the effect of flouride on the body.
Did you know that up to 1/3 of a persons flouride exposure comes from non-organic foods? This is a result of the pesticides and herbicides that are flouride-based.
What are your biggest offenders:
- Non organic fresh produce
- Breakfast cereals
- Juices (grape especially)
- Lunch meats
- Black and green tea (even organic)
Other sources include toothpaste and drinking water. Dasani and Aquafina are both free of flouride evidently. High mineral water is very important. A spring water that is free of flouride is your best bet.
Here is something else to think about:
…free flouride ion acts as a transport of heavy metals, allowing them to enter into areas of your body they normally would not be able to go, such as into your brain.
Bottled and Spring Waters can have flouride in them!
Taking a bath or shower is also an avenue for flouride exposure. A woman can absorb (via skin) 2 lbs of fluid from taking a bath. Think about how much flouride one could absorb from a bath! Bathing in the water is a greater risk than drinking it.
More info (from the article):
While fluoride has been linked to a long list of health problems, two that are currently epidemic are thyroid disease and neurodegenerative diseases.
“I think the important thing is to realize that fluoride affects your endocrine system,” Green warns. “… [I]n December 2006… the National Academy of Sciences… came to the unanimous conclusion that the levels of fluoride thought to be the maximum contaminant level and was safe to be in the water, weren’t protective of human health at all… and that the places where you could see that very dramatically would have to do with the endocrine system.”
Fluoride also calcifies your pineal gland, which can lead to a number of health problems, from precocious puberty to cancer—both of which are also burgeoning epidemics… So, what, if anything, can you do to protect your health if you suspect you’re getting too much fluoride?
One early sign of over-exposure to fluoride is dental fluorosis, which typically begins as white specks on your teeth, which then progress to more unsightly yellow and brown mottling of the enamel. At the first signs of dental fluorosis, if you haven’t done so already, you’ll want to immediately eliminate as many sources of fluoride as possible.
But, according to Green, you also need to make sure you have certain nutrients in your system. These three will help bind the free fluoride ions, allowing it to be excreted from your body more effectively:
- Magnesium
- Calcium
- Vitamin C
“If you’re not using a water filter, YOUR BODY is the filter.”
Where we live, we don’t have flouride in our city water but we do have chlorine. The water industry KNOW that even chlorine is cancer-causing.
Here is the Mercola article:
This Food Blasts Your Body With Up to 180 Times the Fluoride in Drinking Water
One of the reasons I started reading about calcification stems from my readings on gallstones. As some of my readers know, I’ve had an “unknown” stomach issue for years. Lately it seems to be getting really persistent so I am once again trying to fix myself – and in the meantime trying to connect the dots with Ryan’s MS.
I’m quite certain that I have chronic pancreatitis. I am very healthy, have never been a drinker, never done any drugs so the only thing it really could be is a blockage from gallstones. My mother and grandmother have both had gallbladder issues in the past. My grandmother eventually died of pancreatic cancer when I was 16.
Gallstones can be a calcification. Kidney stones, gout, hardening of the arteries are all “calcifications”. Some even believe cancer is a result of calcification.
Why is calcification related to disease, including MS?
Here is what happens. Free radicals, parasites, bacteria…you name it, damages internal organs including the brain. The tissue your body builds around the damage, for repair, attracts calcium. The calcium forms a hard material…hence “hardening of the arteries“.
Think about MS. Something has crossed the blood brain barrier and damaged the brain. The damaged site begins to encapsulate itself in order to contain necrotic tissue in order to prevent spreading infecting. Also, as part of the healing process, the site attracts calcium creating a “lesion” aka hardening of the brain tissue.
The questions arise. What is damaging the brain? How can we remove and prevent the calcification? How can we provide the building blocks to repair the damaged tissue?
Mercury has been a heavy metal that is highly correlated to MS. But what about calcium? We think its so great, but is it the real problem? Watch the following videos and I will continue this discussion in the next blog (calcium is discussed in number 3).
